Response from IBM as follows (but does not resolve our issue):
I could not find this as a known problem.
However, considering it is only appearing on the Eclipse platform, I suspect corruption in the Eclipse workspace folder.
Please check if recreating that folder solves the problem.
To do so:
- stop the Notes client
- rename the \workspace folder located in the Notes data folder
- restart the Notes client > a new \workspace folder will be created (the restart will therefore take some time more then usual)
- check if the buttons are still being lost intermittently. If they are, you can delete the newly made \workspace folder and put the old one back. If it solved, delete the renamed old \workspace folder from the system.
Deleting the workspace folder will not harm the correct functioning of the Notes client. However - as the eclipse based user preferences are stored in that folder - some of the user preferences will get lost when deleting/renaming the folder and the end user will have to re-establish the preferences manually later.
